i am compiling a summer mix right now, perfect high energy singing for being alone for ten-hour days and staying awake drawing. so far:

syd matters, obstacles
belle and sebastian, your cover's blown
the church, chromium
bloc party, the answer
devo, ohio
for stars, how it goes
fruit bats, lives of crime [okay, this one didn't fit on the disc. what a waste!]
grizzly bear, don't ask
get him eat him, mumble mumble
oranger, crones
of montreal, spanish dance troupe (gorky's cover)
silver jews, how can i love you (if you won't lie down)
the lucksmiths, a hiccup in your happiness
sufjan stevens, the lord god bird
pas/cal, what happened to the sands
kaiser chiefs, every day i love you less and less
the new pornographers, twin cinema
chad vangaalen, kill me in my sleep
saturday looks good to me, meet me by the water
bishop allen, things are what you make of them
oranger, new comes and goes

i had a strange dream that we were searching for a present for my father, and we came home empty handed. i was personally searching for a stuffed animal shaped like link from the legend of zelda, and then started thinking about how to make one. when we got home, i found a box that held a letter from my friend john and a handbaked pie, miraculously unscathed. in it he told me he missed our school friendship, except for the fights in the printshop that he never witnessed because at that point he graduated.

either way, it made me miss the printshop and wonder: who will carry on the silkscreening tradition now that i'm gone? there are classes for lithography and etching, so i'm sure new blood will easily flow into those programs, but i was really the one who stayed on and kept on in the basement for years. it also made me cross my fingers and hope that when i come home, the weather will have cooled and i will start silkscreening again without feeling sick from the heat.

it's only wednesday! ps- i am a pretty good cook now, i've learned not to substitute ketchup for tomato sauce like i did when i was fifteen. (it seemed to make sense at the time!)
